During the third week of 2025 (13-19.01.2025), 5 404 cases of acute respiratory diseases and influenza were recorded among a surveillance population of 346 739 people, representing an incidence rate of 155.85 per 10 000 population. The level of morbidity in the country increased compared to the previous week, and reached the level of the same week of the previous season. The overall incidence in all age groups also increased compared to the previous week, particularly marked in young children. The incidence by age group was: 580.00 per 10 000 population in the 0-4 age group; 452.19 per 10 000 population in the 5-14 age group.

The number of registered cases of ARI and influenza is increasing in almost all regional cities, but the epidemic process is of different intensity. With epidemic values is the incidence in the districts of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Dobrich, Plovdiv, Haskovo, Yambol, Plovdiv; With high, pre-epidemic values is the incidence in the districts of Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Gabrovo, Kyustendil, Montana, Pleven, Targovishte. Haskovo, Vidin, Yambol, Plovdiv and Blagoevgrad .

During the week, 536 clinical samples of patients with ARI were simultaneously tested for influenza A/B and SARS-CoV-2 viruses by Real Time PCR at the Influenza and ARI NRL. 63 A(H1N1)pdm09 influenza viruses, 89 A(H3N2)influenza viruses, 33 influenza B/Victoria viruses were detected.

382 clinical samples of children under 5 years of age were additionally tested for non-influenza respiratory viruses: 8 RSV, 7 parainfluenza viruses and 26 other viruses were proved.
