In week 40 of 2026 (28 September - 4 October 2026), 1,600 cases of acute respiratory infections and influenza were recorded amongst a monitored population of 347,913 people, representing an incidence rate of 45.99 per 10,000 population. In the previous week, 1,168 cases were recorded (an incidence rate of 33.57 per 10,000 population). The incidence rate in all age groups has increased compared with the previous week, with the rise being most pronounced in the 0-4 age group (241.52 per 10,000 population) and the 5-14 age group (143.67 per 10,000 population). During week 39, influenza A virus was confirmed at the National Reference Laboratory for Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections.
