Week No 51

During week No 51 (18.12.2023-24.12.2023), the level of intensity of the epidemic process of influenza and acute respiratory diseases (ARD) did not increase compared to the previous week, with an overall incidence of 121.81 per 10,000 people (121.29 per 10,000 people for the previous week).
Among the total 364,095 persons of all age groups monitored in the 51th week of 2023, there were 4,435 cases of ARI (previous week 4,416).
The incidence in the age group 0-4 years was 504.35 followed by the age group 5-14 years (379.74).

109 samples were tested in the national reference laboratory. Influenza A/H3N2 virus was demonstrated in 1 sample; influenza A/H1N1 (2009) viruses were demonstrated in 12 samples.  Influenza viruses were not proven in samples from children under 5 years of age, but adenoviruses, RSV, PIV and other viruses were isolated.
