Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was higher then medium during week No 50 (12.12.2016-18.12.2016). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 140.90 (during week No 49 the incidence was 120.49). From a total of 382 104 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 5384 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 49 the cases were 4604). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (660.28 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (475.45 per 10,000). The incidence was highest in: Vidin (181.53), Pernik (181.76), Plovdiv (94.75), Sofia - city (164.87) and Haskovo (233,65).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 50 totally of 35 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 11 positive results for subtype А/Н3N2 were detected.
