Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was high during week No 52 (26.12.2016-01.01.2017). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 169.77 (during week No 51 the incidence was 166.24). From a total of 382 104 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 6487 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 51 the cases were 6352). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (684.22 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (408.52 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in: Gabrovo (378.74), Montana (433.05), Pernik (208.5), Stara Zagora(370.58) and Haskovo (360.85). The incidence was highest in: Blagoevgrad (261.77), Burgas (160.57), Kustendil (159.49), Pazardjik (227.59), Plovdiv (147.55), Razgrad (129.83), Ruse (228.42), Sofia-city (149.56), Targovishte (152.21) and Shumen (171.17).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 52 totally of 51 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 1 positive result for А(Н1N1) 2009 was detected and 24 positive results for subtype А/Н3N2 were detected.
