Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was high during week No 02 (08.01.2018-14.01.2018). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 177.68 (during week No 01 the incidence was 118.88). From a total of 381 659 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 6781 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 01 the cases were 4535). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (563.86 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (484.46 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in: Pernik (280,66), Sofia city(203.15) and Plovdiv (137,40). The highest incidence has been reported in: Blagoevgrad (214.82), Burgas (183.96), Varna(160.75), Vidin (188.76), Pazardjik (327.96), Razgrad (143.88), Silistra (213.49) and Stara Zagora (234.97).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 02 totally of 155 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 6 positive results for А(Н1N1) 2009, 2 positive results for A/H3N2, 41 positive results type B (Yamagata) were detected.
