Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was increased during week No 03 (15.01.2018-21.01.2018). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 189.49 (during week No 02 the incidence was 177.68). From a total of 381 493 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 7229 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 02 the cases were 6781). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (630.86 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (563.15 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in: Blagoevgrad (507.9) and Plovdiv (164,4). The highest incidence has been reported in: Burgas (217.9), Varna(170.31), Vidin (213.2), Gabrovo (279.6), Pazardjik (270.0), Pernik (172,7), Sofia city (183.8), Stara Zagora (277.3) and Yambol (234.4).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 03 totally of 235 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 9 positive results for А(Н1N1) 2009, 2 positive results for A/H3N2, 77 positive results type B (Yamagata), 9 B/Victoria were detected.
