Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was high during week No 04 (22.01.2018-28.01.2018). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 230.83 (during week No 03 the incidence was 189.49). From a total of 381 493 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 8806 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 03 the cases were 7229). The incidence was highest in the age group 5-14 yrs (722.84 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 0-4 yrs (719.84 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in: Blagoevgrad (384.4), Burgas (224.8), Varna(198.7), Vidin (290.9), Vratsa (351,3), Gabrovo (379,6), Kjustendil (196,6), Sofia capital (240,2), Stara Zagora (395,9) and Yambol (438.5). The highest incidence has been reported in: Lovech (302.1), Montana (481.7), Plovdiv (157.1), Russe (246.3), Sliven (209.6) and Sofia (256.5),
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 04 totally of 254 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 14 positive results for А(Н1N1) 2009, 3 positive results for A/H3N2 and 106 positive results type B (Yamagata) were detected.
