Week No 1

In week No. 1 of 2023 (02.01.2023 - 08.01.2023), the overall incidence rate for the country was 124.44 per 10,000 people (previous week's rate was 53.32). Among the total 373,025 persons of all age groups monitored in the 1st week of 2023, 4642 cases of ARI were recorded (previous week 1989). The incidence in the age group 0-4 years was 431.52 per 10,000 , and in the age group 5-14 years was 323.86 per 10,000.  The epidemiological data reflect an increase in the incidence of ARI and influenza. The incidence data in the districts of Gabrovo, Shumen and Varna show that epidemic levels have been reached. In eleven districts of the country ( Blagoevgrad, Burgas, Vratsa, Dobrich, Kyustendil, Lovech, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv, Ruse, Silistra, Yambol) the incidence shows a high intensity of the epidemic process in ARI and circulation of influenza viruses.
32 positive samples for influenza A [A/H3N2 - 17; A/H1N1(2009) -15] have been reported. Laboratory confirmed circulation of adenoviruses, respiratory syncytial virus and other viruses in samples of children up to 5 years of age.
