In week No. 3 of 2023 (16.01.2023 - 22.01.2023), the overall incidence of ARI and influenza for the country is 199.13 per 10,000 people (previous week it was 196.80 ). Among the total 373,025 persons of all age groups monitored in the 3rd week of 2023, 7428 cases of ARI were recorded (previous week 7341). The incidence in the age group 0-4 years was 730.22 per 10,000 , and in the age group 5-14 years was 564.21 per 10,000. There was an increase in incidence in all age groups but with epidemic values in the child age groups 0-4 years and 5-14 years. The epidemiological data reflect a high incidence of ARI and influenza in almost the whole country. Incidence data in the districts of Gabrovo, Dobrich, Lovech, Plovdiv, Sofia region, Stara Zagora and Yambol show very high, epidemic levels of ARI and influenza. In fourteen districts of the country ( Blagoevgrad, Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Vratsa, Kyustendil, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pernik, Pleven, Silistra, Sliven, Sofia capital, Targovishte, Haskovo) the incidence shows high intensity of the epidemic process in ARI.
In the NRL "Influenza and ARI" during the period 625 samples were tested, of which 222 were positive for influenza A [A/H3N2 - 98; A/H1N1(2009) -124] and 13 positive for influenza B/Victoria. No influenza viruses were demonstrated in 290 samples of children under 5 years of age tested, but circulation of adenoviruses, respiratory syncytial virus and other viruses was demonstrated.
