Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was higher than medium during week No 5 (30.01.2023 - 05.02.2023). The total incidence per 10, 000 population decrease and was 132,40 (during the week 4 the incidence was 164,31). From a total of 373,025 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 939 ARI cases have been reported (during the week 4 they were 6 129). The incidence is highest in the age group 0-4 ys (572.18 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-19 ys old (342.06 per 10,000). The incidence, higher than the country average, has been reported in: Gabrovo, Plovdiv and Sofia-region.
In the NRL "Influenza and ARI" during the period 115 samples were tested, of which 28 were positive for influenza A [A/H3N2 - 6; A/H1N1(2009) -22] and 3 positive for influenza B/Victoria. No influenza viruses were demonstrated in 65 samples of children under 5 years of age tested, but circulation of adenoviruses, respiratory syncytial virus and other viruses was demonstrated.
