During week No 50 (11/12/2023-17/12/2023), the level of intensity of the epidemic process of influenza and acute respiratory diseases (ARD) increased compared to the previous week, with an overall incidence of 121.29 per 10,000 people (103.00 per 10,000 people for the previous week).
Among the total 364,095 persons of all age groups monitored in the 50th week of 2023, there were 4,416 cases of ARI (previous week 3,750).
The incidence in the age group 0-4 years was 530.07 followed by the age group 5-14 years (372.42). Increase in incidence was recorded in all age groups.
150 samples were tested in the national reference laboratory. Influenza A/H3N2 viruses were demonstrated in 2 samples; influenza A/H1N1 (2009) viruses were demonstrated in 4 samples; influenza B/Victoria virus was demonstrated in 2 samples. Influenza viruses were not proven in samples from children under 5 years of age, but adenoviruses, RSV, PIV and other viruses were isolated.
