In week 6 of 2026, 3773 cases of acute respiratory infections and influenza were registered among a monitored population of 347,913 people, which represents a incidence rate of 108.45 per 10,000 population. For the previous week 5 (26-01.02), 5128 cases were registered (incidence rate of 147.39 per 10,000 population). The average incidence rate for the country and by age groups is lower than the previous week. The highest incidence rate is observed among individuals between 0 and 4 years (451.67 per 10,000 population) and 5-14 years (317.82 per 10,000 population). There are no districts with epidemic levels of morbidity. The incidence rate in Plovdiv district is high, but has decreased sharply compared to the previous week. The remaining districts report medium or low incidence rates.
164 clinical samples from patients with ARI were tested by Real Time PCR at the National Reference Laboratory for Influenza and ARI. 29 cases of influenza A(H3N2) virus and 8 cases of influenza A/H1N1 (2009) were confirmed. In children under 5 years of age, the following were confirmed in the 131 clinical samples tested: influenza virus A/H3N2 (23), influenza virus A/H1N1 (2009) (6), AdV (7), RSV (9), PIV (5), and other viruses (10).
