Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased and during week No 44 (31.10.2011 - 06.11.2011) the total incidence per 10,000 population was 99,97 (during week No 43 the incidence was 69,86). From a total of 380,886 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of  3 803 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 43 the cases were 2 661). The incidence is highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (508.94 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (246.23 per 10,000). The highest incidence has been reported in: Haskovo (218.50), Lovech (209.72) and Stara Zagora (160.88).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 44 totally of 6 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. Positive results have not been detected.
