Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased and during week No 41 (10.10.2011 - 16.10.2011) the total incidence per 10,000 population was 68.89 (during week No 40 the incidence was 50.07). From a total of 380,886 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of  2 624 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 40 the cases were 1 907). The incidence is highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (345.28 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (183.52 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 41 totally of 8 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. Positive results have not been detected.
