Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 03 (14.01.2013 - 20.01.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 93.25 (during week No 02 the incidence was 83.16). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 558  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 02 the cases were 3 173). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (370.77 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (262.96 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 03 а total of 20 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 2 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 and 3  positive results for influenza type B  were detected.
