Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 04 (21.01.2013 - 27.01.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 102.19 (during week No 03 the incidence was 93.25). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 899  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 03 the cases were 3 558). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (424.74 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (304.00 per 10,000). Pre-epidemic incidence has been reported in Plovdiv (93.09).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 04 а total of 52 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 4 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 and 2  positive results for influenza type B  were detected.
