Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased during week No 06 (04.02.2013 - 10.02.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 122.94 (during week No 05 the incidence was 102.47). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 691 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 05 the cases were 3910). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (499.76 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (392.39 per 10,000). Pre-epidemic incidence has been reported in; Varna (129.67), Plovdiv (114.66) and Haskovo (257.68). The highest incidence has been reported in: Silistra (168.63), Sofia (123.94) and Sofia-region (193.36).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD
During week No 06 а total of 81 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 6 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 1 positive result for influenza type A, 18 positive results for influenza type B and 3 positive results nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
