Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased during week No 07 (11.02.2013 - 17.02.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 128.79 (during week No 06 the incidence was 122.94). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 914 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 06 the cases were 4 691). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (487.34 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (410.06 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in Varna (167.61). Pre-epidemic incidence has been reported in Sofia-region (282.41). The highest incidence has been reported in: Plovdiv (106.09), Stara Zagora (193.10) and Pazardjik (211.14).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD
During week No 07 а total of 114 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 15 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 1 positive result for influenza type A, 29 positive results for influenza type B and 4 positive results nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
