Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased during week No 08 (18.02.2013 - 24.02.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 131.77 (during week No 07 the incidence was 128.79). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 5 028  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 07 the cases were 4 914). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (508.39 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (406.28 per 10,000). The highest incidence has been reported in: Vidin (191.91),  Pernik (175.83), Sofia-region (237.18) and Haskovo (239.37).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 08 а total of 117 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 5  positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 42 positive results for influenza type B and 3 positive results nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
