Week No 09

Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased during week No 09 (25.02.2013 - 03.03.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 123.73 (during week No 08 the incidence was 131.77). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 721  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 08 the cases were 5 028). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (484.11 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (368.39 per 10,000). The highest incidence has been reported in: Varna (132.16), Vidin (189.87),  Pernik (233.20),Razgrad (154.41) and Haskovo (218.44).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 09 а total of 84 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 4 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 37 positive results for influenza type B and 1 positive result  nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
