Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was slowly increased during week No 10 (04.03.2013 - 10.03.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 113.95 (during week No 09 the incidence was 123.73). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 348  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 09 the cases were 4 721). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (448.49 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (307.15 per 10,000). The highest incidence has been reported in: Varna (132.47), Pernik (214.49), Razgrad (142.30) and Haskovo (210.60).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 10 а total of 80 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 1 positive result  for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 26 positive results for influenza type B were detected.
