Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 11 (11.03.2013 - 17.03.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 113.43 (during week No 10 the incidence was 113.95). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 328  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 10 the cases were 4 348). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (454.96 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (339.04 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 11 а total of 138 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 6 positive results  for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 42  positive results for influenza type B,   8 positive results  nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
