Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 12 (18.03.2013 - 24.03.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 100.14 (during week No 11 the incidence was 113.43). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 821  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 11 the cases were 4 328). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (423.12 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (301.79 per 10,000). The highest incidence has been reported in Vidin (196.00).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 12 а total of 39 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 1 positive result  for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 6  positive results for influenza type B were detected.
