Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 13 (25.03.2013 - 31.03.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 86.04 (during week No 12 the incidence was 100.14). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 283  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 12 the cases were 3 821). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (349.72 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (262.96 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 13 а total of 32 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 2 positive results  for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 9  positive results for influenza type B were detected.
