Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria has decreased during week No 15 (08.04.2013 - 14.04.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 54.85 (during week No 14 the incidence was 63.34). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 2 093  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 14 the cases were 2 417). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (214.80 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (180.88 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 15 а total of 34 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 3  positive results for influenza type B were detected.
