Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria has decreased during week No 16 (15.04.2013 - 21.04.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 57.92 (during week No 15 the incidence was 54.85). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 2 210  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 15 the cases were 2 093). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (247.72 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (185.93 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 16 а total of 3 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 1  positive result for influenza type B was detected.
