Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria has decreased during week No 19 (06.05.2013 -12.05.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 36.01  (during week No 18 the incidence was 19.79). From a total of 381 562 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 1 374 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 18 the cases were 755). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (160.83  per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (96.91 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 19  а total of 3 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 2 positive results for influenza type B were detected.
