Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 50 (09.12.2013 - 15.12.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 114.98 (during week No 49 the incidence was 107.26). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 4 376 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 49 the cases were 4 082). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (484.87 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (352.70 per 10,000). The incidence, higher than the country average, has been reported in: Russe (228.51) and Sofia-region (206.84).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 50 totally of 21 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 1 positive result for type B was detected.
