Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium during week No 51 (16.12.2013 - 22.12.2013) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 98.66 (during week No 50 the incidence was 114.98). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 755 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 50 the cases were 4 376). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (444.07 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (280.26 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 51 totally of 12 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 1 positive result for А(Н1N1) 2009 was detected and 1 positive result for type B was detected.
