Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria has increased and is higher than medium level during week No 02 (06.12.2014 - 12.01.2014) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 143.52 (during week No 01 the incidence was 66.95). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 5 462 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 01 the cases were 2 548). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (515.61 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (341.35 per 10,000). Pre-epidemic incidence has been reported in: Sofia (177.62), Sofia-region (280.81) and Burgas (155.32). The highest incidence has been reported in: Vidin (162.31), Pazardjik (191.69), Pleven (169.55), Smolyan (160.83) and Yambol (191.74).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD
During week No 02 а total of 70 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 10 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 4 positive results for influenza type A and 2 positive results nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
