Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria has increased and is higher than medium level during week No 03 (13.01.2014 - 19.01.2014) and the total incidence per 10,000 population was 169.58 (during week No 02 the incidence was 143.52). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 6 454 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 02 the cases were 5 462). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (643.32 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (435.89 per 10,000). The highest еpidemic incidence has been reported in: Sofia-region (318.42) and Burgas (237.75). Еpidemic incidence has been reported in: Varna (130.91), Vratsa (242.64), Montana (276.55), Sofia (189.68) and Yambol (240.35).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD
During week No 03 а total of 152 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 46 positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 , 1 positive result for influenza type A and 14 positive results nfluenza viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
