Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium  during week No 10 (03.03.2014 - 09.03.2014). The total incidence per 10,000 population decrease  and was 83.00 (during week No 09 the incidence was 101.95). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 159 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 09 the cases were 3 880). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (333.85 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (239.74 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 10  а total of 40  nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 7  positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 and 8 positive results viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
