Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was  higher than medium  during week No 11 (10.03.2014 - 16.03.2014). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 92.91 (during week No 10 the incidence was 83.00). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 536 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 10 the cases were 3 159). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (397.97 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (258.16 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 11  а total of 23  nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 2  positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 and 2 positive results viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
