Iinfluenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was medium  during week No 12 (17.03.2014 - 23.03.2014). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 83.13 (during week No 11 the incidence was 92.91). From a total of 380 586 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 3 164  ARI cases have been reported (during week No 11 the cases were 3 536). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (349.74 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (246.19 per 10,000).

Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD

During week No 12  а total of 15 nasopharyngeal swabs from patients with acute viral infections have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARI by molecular diagnostic method Real Time PCR. The 2  positive results for А(Н1N1)pdm09 and 1 positive result  viruses of subtype А(H3N2) were detected.
