Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was high during week No 1 (02.01.2017-08.01.2017). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 215.52 (during week No 52 the incidence was 169.77). From a total of 382 104 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 8235 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 52 the cases were 6487). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (699.68 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (453.23 per 10,000). Incidence with hight epidemic values has been reported in: Blagoevgrad (616.01), Kustendil (275.49), Montana (658.87), Ruse (257.23), Sofia (268.63), Stara Zagora (361.08), Haskovo (387.11) and Yambol (392.99).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 1 totally of 166 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 3 positive results for А(Н1N1) 2009 and 89 positive results for subtype А/Н3N2 were detected.
