Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was high during week No 4 (20.01.2019-26.01.2020). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 227.21 (during week No 3 the incidence was 133.69). From a total of 380 356 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 8 642 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 3 the cases were 5 085). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (880.97 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (748.80 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in: Blagoevgrad (433.71), Burgas (263.28), Veliko Tarnovo (223.25), Dobrich (197.37), Kardjali (238.21), Pernik (262.62), Plovdiv (183.20), Smolyan (230.46), Sofia city (269.80) and Haskovo (364.69).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 4 totally of 353 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 59 positive results for А(Н1N1) 2009, 110 positive results for А(Н3N2) and 26 positive results type B/Victoria were detected.
