Influenza and ARI intensity in Bulgaria was high during week No 5 (27.01.2019-02.02.2020). The total incidence per 10,000 population was 242.69 (during week No 4 the incidence was 227.21). From a total of 380 356 persons under surveillance, belonging to all age groups, a total of 9 231 ARI cases have been reported (during week No 4 the cases were 8 642). The incidence was highest in the age group 0-4 yrs (958.56 per 10,000 population), followed by age group of 5-14 yrs (769.87 per 10,000). Incidence with epidemic values has been reported in: Blagoevgrad (420.70), Vratsa (266.48), Vidin (235.82), Kardjali (573.54), Kjustendil (258.24), Pazardjik (303.52), Pernik (257.15), Pleven (309.59), Silistra (327.40), Sliven (316.34), Sofia city (268.89) и Targovishte (258.22).
Information from National Reference Laboratory of Influenza and Acute Respiratory Infections at NCIPD: During week No 5 totally of 265 samples from suspect patients have been investigated in the NRL of Influenza and ARD by Real Time PCR. 30 positive results for А(Н1N1) 2009, 94 positive results for А(Н3N2) and 8 positive results type B/Victoria were detected.
