In week 6 (05.02.2024-11.02.2024), the incidence of influenza and acute respiratory illness (132.22 per 10,000 people) decreased from the previous week (173.64 per 10,000 people for the previous week). Among the surveillance population of 364,092 persons, 4814 cases of ARI were recorded during the period (6322 for the previous week). The incidence decreased in all age groups but remained highest in the child age groups: 0-4 years (540.65 per 10,000 population) and 5-14 years (378.61 per 10,000 population).

Only Dobrich district has epidemic values. Burgas, Veliko Tarnovo, Vidin, Kyustendil, Pleven, Plovdiv, Sliven, Stara Zagora and Haskovo districts have high prevalence rates.

The National Reference Laboratory tested 279 samples during the week, 72 of which were found to contain influenza A viruses (59 samples were found to contain influenza A/H1N1 (2009); 9 samples were found to contain influenza A/H3N2); influenza B/Victoria was found in 4 samples. No influenza viruses have been demonstrated in samples from children under 5 years of age, but RSV (9), PIV (2), AdV(4) and other respiratory viruses have been isolated(19).
