Week No 8

During week No. 8 (19.02.2024-25.02.2024) the intensity of the epidemic process in influenza and acute respiratory diseases (ARD) decreases. The incidence rate is 98.93 per 10,000 people (114.17 per 10,000 people in the previous week) and is below the national average. Among the surveillance population totaling 364,092 persons, 3602 cases of ARI were recorded during the period (4157 in the previous week). The incidence decreased in all age groups, but was highest in the age group 0-4 years (434.27 per 10,000 population) and 5-14 years (313.07 per 10,000 population).

There were no areas with epidemic values during the week. Only Dobrich district recorded a high incidence, but with a decreasing trend compared to the previous week. In the district of Silistra, an increase in the incidence was recorded, which started in the previous week, but has not yet reached epidemic levels.

In the national reference laboratory, 74 samples were tested, 15 of which were confirmed to contain influenza A viruses: A/H1N1 (2009) in 13 samples; A/H3N2) in 2 samples.

No influenza viruses were detected in samples from children under 5 years of age, but RSV(3) , PIV(3) and other (7) respiratory viruses were isolated.
