Week No 15

During week 15 (08.04.2024-14.04.2024), a slight increase in the intensity of the epidemic process of influenza and acute respiratory diseases (ARI) is reported.
The incidence rate was 57.48 per 10,000 people (55.28 per 10,000 people in the previous week). Among the surveillance population of 364 295 persons, 2 094 cases of ARI were recorded during the period (2 014 the previous week).
The age group with the highest incidence was 0-4 years (230.89 per 10 000 population), although a steady downward trend was observed in the same group since week 13.
Compared to the previous week, there was an increase in weekly incidence in the age groups 5-14 years (177.81 per 10,000 population) and 15-29 years (79.03).
The national reference laboratory tested 22 samples, in 5 of which influenza virus type B/Victoria was confirmed.
No influenza viruses were proven in samples tested from children under 5 years of age, but PIV (2), AdV(3) and other(7) respiratory viruses were isolated.
