During week No. 45 (4. 11- 10. 11 2024), 3 457 cases of influenza and acute respiratory diseases (ARD) were recorded among the surveillance population of 362 929, incidence rate 95.25 per 10 000 population (previous week - 2 136 cases recorded, incidence rate 58.59 per 10 000 population). The incidence in the age group 0-4 years was 416.21 per 10,000 population and in the age group 5-14 years was 258.44 per 10,000 population. The level of morbidity in the country shows a sharp increase compared to the previous week and is determined by the high morbidity registered in the regional cities of Burgas, Varna, Dobrich, Plovdiv and Yambol. In the remaining regional cities, the prevalence is at the usual seasonal levels or still low.
During week 45, 39 clinical samples of ARI patients were tested by Real Time PCR in the Influenza and ARI NRL. 1 influenza A(H1N1)pdm09 virus, 1 influenza A(H3N2) virus, and 8 SARS-CoV-2 viruses were detected.
Twenty-seven clinical specimens were additionally tested for 8 noninfluenza respiratory viruses( respiratory syncytial virus, metapneumovirus, parainfluenza viruses type 1/2/3, adenoviruses, rhinoviruses, and bocaviruses). 4 parainfluenza viruses type 1, 3 rhinoviruses, 1 adenovirus and 1 bocavirus were demonstrated.
