During week 46, 98 clinical samples of patients with ARI were tested by Real Time PCR at the Influenza and ARI NRL. Two influenza viruses were detected: 1 influenza A(H3N2) virus and 1 influenza B/Victoria virus. No influenza viruses were proven in children under 5 years of age, but 3 parainfluenza viruses, 3 adenoviruses, and 16 other viruses were isolated from 56 samples tested.

During week No. 46 (11. 11- 17. 11. 2024), 3,380 cases of influenza and acute respiratory diseases (ARD) were recorded among the monitored population of 342,097, an incidence rate of 98.80 per 10,000 population. The incidence in the age group 0-4 years is 400.45 per 10,000 population and in the age group 5-14 years is 260.87 per 10,000 population. The national incidence level is within the usual seasonal range and has been increasing since week 45, largely determined by the high incidence registered in the regional cities of Varna, Veliko Tarnovo, Dobrich, Pazardzhik, Plovdiv and Yambol. In the remaining regional cities, the prevalence is currently at or still below normal levels for the season.
